DAYLIGHT CONVERTER
©driendl*architects 2008
To transfer the transition of daylight luminance (100.000 lux) to standard tunnel lighting to the tunnel entrance area
Over a distance of approximately 140 m (3-5 sec at 100/150 km/h) daylight is gradually converted into tunnel lighting by using a shading system with decreasing translucency towards the exit (no maintenance cost).
ZERO EMISSION TUNNEL
The shading system consists of solar panels which also generate the required energy for tunnel lighting.
BENEFITS / SUSTAINABILITY:
ENERGY SAVING WHILE IN SERVICE WHILE
ACCIDENT RISK REDUCTION WITHIN THE ENTRANCE AND EXIT AREA
BETTER ADAPTION DUE TO GRADUAL TRANSITION OF BRIGHT DAYLIGHT TO TUNNEL LIGHTING

STRUCTURAL SHADING SYSTEM – NO MAINTENANCENOO –
SIGNIFICANT APPEARANCE AND FUNCTIONAL READABILITY, EVEN FROM AN AIRPLANE PERSPECTIVE DURING LANDING APPROACH
