Solution

For Waagner Biro we developed a flexible open-plan office that easily can be transformed into cellular offices when needed.

A double glaced protection blocks the noise of the streets, coming from the north, west and east. To the south, direction yard, a glass (glaced) atrium with a site development, which also functions as a sun protection, is proposed.

An accessible air channel around the building brings pre-cooled air into the atrium and the double glacing of the outern shell/mantle – thermally put in motion without additional ventilation and leaving the building through the roof.

The outside/exterior walls to the offices are conceived as openable elements which – automated through sensors that are able to interpret temperature differences – automatically open and close and thus guarantee an aeration in the night and an optimal air renewal.

A further cooling is planned as an activation of the thermal mass of the building, fed via depth probes. These factors, in their entirety, lead to a passive house standard as well as the highest possible utilization quality without extensive climatisation measures.
